Rough draft of trail guide finished

It was allot of work but it is finally finished. Big thanks to Jake McNair, Joslyn McNair, Charles Hill, Joe Hill, and all those that came out to ride. You can check out a copy of the trail guide the next time you visit Sticks and Stones in Rexburg, ID. Island Park :: Harriman State Park

So I was looking for a trail to go on with my wife Diane, and this turned out to be a great one. It is a 5.7 mile trail around silver lake at Harriman National Park. On this
trip I got GPS coordinates and Helmet cam footage you can check out in the future on new and upcoming podcasts.

Moody :: Webster's Dam

Went with Brain & Cory and got GPS and helmet cam of trail. Cleared out trail a little because of limbs and trees that had fallen over on the trail. Brain got stabbed under his eye by an overhanging limb on the trail.

Kelly Canyon :: Dana's Drop

Went with Joe and got GPS and Helmet cam, Joe climbed to the top of the phone tower and got some blurry pictures and video. We ended up clearing out the trail quite a bit because it had not been riddin in a while. Joe also got stung by a wasp.

Kelly Canyon :: Leaning Fir

This trail starts with a 1.8 mile climb to the radio tower and then goes along the ridge line until dropping into Leaning Fir trail. If you enjoy downhill, well groomed trails, and beautiful scenery this is the trail for you. But be sure to keep your eyes open for wasps Jake got stung in the neck twice.

Hawley Gulch / Got lost

Went with Jake and Joe. Got some GPS and Helmet cam. But not sure if I will use it or not since we got lost most of the time. We went up a dead end trail and turned around and came back. Then went farther and followed a singletrack trail around the ridge and dropped us off in the middle of shale and sagebrush infested slope. So we ended up carrying our bikes down a mile of rough downhill terrain and long ride back on the gravel road.

Went with joe and got GPS. Tried to get helmet cam but ended up recording the inside of my backpack instead.

Kelly Canyon :: Wolverine Creek

Went with Charles, Chris, Jake, & Oliver. We got GPS and Helmet cam of most of the trail. Helmet cam had problems shutting off and got to dark to film. I ended up wreaking and bending my brake lever at the last streak of downhill. Charles broke his chain and we all hovered around charles and Jakes helmet lamps in the light on the ride back. We didn't get back until 11:30 pm.

Kelly Canyon :: Hawley Gulch

So we did get some Helmet cam footage this time but my biking college Brian got a flat tire. So we ended up splitting up half way threw the trail. We started out going over Buckskin Morgan Ridge and the dropping down into Hawley Gulch. We also ran into an nice couple that have been shredding the area for the last ten years. So rock on!

Green Canyon

So Charles, Brain and myself set out to discover a trail we heard about from Kelsen bike fabricator Brain. Which we were unsuccessful in finding. We did however see a Moose. But the hemet cam positioning was so low we missed it

on tape. Plus we found out that we logged the GPS incorrectly so we didn't even map out any trails either. But all in all we got some good downhill in and was still a fun trip.

Kelly Canyon :: Hawley Gulch

Today we went out to map out our first trail of the project. We also brought a camera and took some pictures of a few of the key points on the trails. The starting crew was; Jake McNair, Charles Hill, Joe Hill, Oliver Yin, and myself. We tried to get some helmet cam footage but found out the video camera I had brought wasn't compatible with the hemet cam. So we will have to test that out another day.

Where it all begins

At Kelly Canyon Y - Junction. This will soon become a familiar site for all of you out there as you begin your journey. Located to the left of this sign is a newly added parking lot where you can unload your gear and take care of business at the new restrooms.

What is the Idaho Project?

The Idaho Project is the brain child from a group of local riders that decided to take charge and create and extensive mapping system of all the mountain bike trails threw out all Eastern Idaho. The project is starting with Kelly Canyon and will progressively spread throughout all the Big Hole mountain range. It will include a full size brochure, helmet cam footage, a passport sized booklet, and detailed topographical maps that can be found at your local shop or ordered online.
